GB was taking good care of his house. Keeping things running smoothly. Ensuring an environment where family members can live peacefully and concentrate on their own progress, enjoying life, mostly following rules and not disturbing others. The family was not rich but doing ok. The situations were not exactly ideal but not out of control too. Though there were concerns they were being acted upon and there were a few failures too. But there were many success too.

The other brother BB, was not at all taking care of his people. He being too selfish and greedy, did not mind to keep house in ruined state, He would not mind keeping his people hungry, sick. He was not concerned about their pathetic condition OR he wanted to stymie them so that he could control them fulfilling his own desires.

Now lack of opportunities made people in the family to take shelter in their uncle GB's house.

GB's family did not mind initially as they always have been amicable and broadminded accommodating others, but slowly the situation at BB's house kept getting worse and more n more people start migrating to GB's house. Slowly they would start competing with GB's family members over the limited things at home. May it be plates n spoon, space, sofas, beds. Soon they start dictating what channels should be viewed on TV, what dialect to speak, what occasions to celebrate. They were not invited to GB's home still they would force enter. They obviously were not concerned how much they were damaging the house and entire living condition there in GB's house cause. They soon start thinking as if GB's original family members did not matter and it's their own house and not GB's family members.

To add insult to the injury, BB who was responsible for the poor state of his people started provoking them to take control of GB's house.

Well we can call GB as good brother n BB as bad brother but it was taken other way round.

When some of GB's family members started protesting it whole area started cursing GB's family members for being intolerant and disturbing harmony in the area.

Now may be you too will think GB's family members at fault, but is it the right thing?

Everyone outside of Maharashtra is today shouting in the name of Raj Thakarey and MNS. Everyone including Rajdeep Sardesai and NDTV and Aaj Tak is blaming Marathi people for disturbing peace n harmony and busy lecturing Marathi manoos about constitution. May be going to other state for making a leaving is allowed in constitution, but it does not mean that you endanger the culture, language and sheer existence of Marathi people? Well is it not the duty of north Indian states to maintain law and order and create employment opportunities so that people don't need to migrate? Why the media is not talking about it?

On top of that these shameless leaders of UP/Bihar make provoking statements in Maharashtra in name of north Indians. If they were concerned about their people then those state would not be in this pathetic condition. Why media is not throwing light on these facts?

They conduct polls asking people if Mumbai is of Maharashtra or entire India, why don’t they conduct polls asking if Chennai is of TamilNadu or entire India? Of course people will say that most people leaving in there speak Tamil, but how was that managed? Was it not violation of Indian constitution? Answer guys. Then why so much of furor over Marathi people's claim over Mumbai?

May be people say that Mumbai was developed by British and gujju's were already leaving in there, Is it the same case in Pune/Nashik and many other parts of Maharashtra? then why do we see more n more outsiders there too?

People say that Marathi people send their children to English medium schools so they should not be proud of Marathi and allow others in Maharashtra, tell me if Tamil and kanada and Delhi people don't send their children to English medium schools?

Why these double standards? Why?

The longer term implications of this very clear, more and more non-Marathi people as voters. They would demand Hindi be made primary state language. They would say that no need to give holiday for Kartiki Ekadashi/Shivaji Jayanti as already there are enough holidays for Chhat-pooja and all. If people don't speak Hindi they would not be able to participate in state governance, would be forced to learn Hindi at the cost of Marathi. Well this will all be just because UP/Bihar are not acting responsibly and migrating to Maharashtra, where people have always acted responsibly and adjusted themselves to fellow Indians without complaining. Is it not a big injustice to them?

Why central government is keeping mum on this?

These Up/Biharis would not dare to go to Tamilnadu or Karnataka cause they know that they would not get easy access there as Maharashtra. But is politeness of Maharashtra not the very reason for endangering Marathi culture?

As a one nation people can and should go and settle anywhere and Marathi people too are migrated to many parts of the nation, but have they not assimilated with the local culture there? Are they not speaking local languages? So why should Maharashtra not expect the same from outsiders, and if these same north indians go to Tamil nadu don't they learn Tamil there? then why don't they do in Maharashtra?

Maharashtra has always been a proud growth engine for the nation. In most difficult times Marathi people were among the first to die for India. They would never mind to share their bhakari with other Indians, but why should they do it? just because UP and Bihar are at the hands of Lalu,Mulayam and Maya? And people there are ready to fight against Maharastrians for resources in Maharashtra but not for their due rights like good governance in UP/Bihar? And it is responsibility of only Marathi people to observe restraint and maintain peace?

May be you can arrest Raj and make him silent, but it will not change the reality. You must understand and address the concerns of one peaceful, lawful and progressive cultured community - Marathi manoos.

The Marathi woes

http://shantashant.rediffiland.com/blogs/2008/02/07/The-Marathi-woes.html

I love Tata Nano.

I am not buying Tata nano. Some times you have good and bad shares of the same Script.. and you must be able to distinguish between these two.. it's very easy to do it though.. A Share bought at higher price is a Bad share and the one bought at Lower price is a Good one..
And that's the key to build a portfolio with good stocks..
A basic thing one must not forget is, all this should be worked out with Fundamentally Strong sripts..
Play with them with a lot of patience and some surplus funds at hand.. If you think that the price of your good script has dipped a lot.. Buy it immediately and don't sell your costly shares till you get a good price to get out..
If you think the prices are shot up and still you want to buy..before buying wait atleast till the last thurseday of the month ;)

My tips to some1 going onsite for the first time.

I have got atleast a dozen of chances of working onsite due to my capabilities and skills (couple of them were actually materialised too).
So I would like to share my experiences, give tips to those who are going onsite for the first time..

1. Never work hard and never finish your work on time.. And use as excuse that you wanted to deliver a perfect job as you share customer's concerns about the accuracy, you are not taking the work casually... Those who finished it in time... cannot be careful enough and their code is a ticking time-bomb.. you never know when it would explode..

This will result in project extension and ppl would respect you for handling critical job verry carefully, and customer will demand for you even in future phases.

also nobody would expect you to complete the work in time even in future.

2. Use maximum office resources like telephone, internet, laptop, time for personal reasons say finding accomodation/Indian restaurent/Movie theaterr nearby/week end trip plannings..
This will anyway slow down the work pace and you can again say that you are slow because you are perfect/careful.

3. It's better to explore the same place than debuging the same code.. so no matter how small the place is.. go to beaches/cruises/hotels etc..

4. Do buy a camera.. then take a lot of photos .. say Me in office, Me in corridor, the reception(ist), My bedroom, My kitchen, My dining table, My camera etc..
Then download the photos on laptop, then upload them on webshots, then change captions for all of them and then invite friends to view the album..
It helps a lot to overcome the stress arising out working hard--- by not doing that.

5. Collect as many bills as possible and claim all the allownces you are eligible for. This brings you good habit of carefully keeping important documents.

6. Get along with customer well, invite him for Indian dinner if your room mate is a good cook, While your room partner is busy cooking you can discuss whole lot of matters with the customer and impress him. Remeber developing/maintaing good relationship is part of your job.
Needless to say get the cost reimbursed from the company.
Also you will definately get invited from the customer for dinner/lunch etc.

Hope these tips will help and make your onsite longer and more fun..

Happy Friendship Day.....

This Sunday it was National Friendship day...
ofcourse I came to know through the smses those filled my Nokia 2100's small inbox..
I wonder how I ended up with a mobile that has as small memory as me... :(...

Then even I started sending sms to all in my address book and got many replies, half of them saying - "Thnx & s 2 u.. but who is this?".. so I started my day like that..
Whole day I was busy thinking how best I could celebrate the day... till I realized that I had most of my best friends out of town... and very few were in Pune... almost all of them committed/married.. and I wished I had one girlfriend :(.... But then I cheered up myself giving (false) hopes..... "Man it's not Valentine's day, but Friendship day, you will DEFINATELY find one till THIS Valentine's Day".

So I decided to call up all my friends like myself (ofcourse single;)).. Since calling them together could have been another trouble as they did not know each other.. I narrowed down the list to Sam... (I always feel pity for this guy, who has to give a company to me;) ) and we decided to meet on FC Road in the eve, he would come with his RooPa...
When I started from home it was not sunny but no rain as well..... just pleasantly cool. As I reached University Circle.. it started raining like hell. I just could hope it would go away, else it was going to spoil the evening.. but it did go away.In another 20 minutes I was in front of CCD on FC.. Sam had smsed - he would be late due to rains. So I was waiting there as usual looking at beautiful girls..

I just thought, let me count my friends..and my mind lost thinking of all dear friends.. Vikya,Vivek,Ritesh, Amya Ghate, Padya, Shantanu, JD, Pashya, Mahesh, Paresh, Mandar, Nitin, Sachin, Shilpa, Bhairavi, Lekshmi, Aniket, Hari, Sagar.... every1 far away from me.. I saw the years spent with them fast forwarded in some minutes.. all the hostel days, the company training, Paisa Wasool boozzing, picnics, parties, the fun... I felt like it all happened yesterday... I looked around me.. young boys and girls meeting each other with such an affection and enthu.. giggling, shouting, laughing and teasing... Man! Am I looking around me or just running around through my memmory?

I realized quickly.. whatever I was looking around was nothing but whatever I had been living with my friends... It could be just a single day for the world... but My whole life is happy friendship day :D.. thank GOD!!! .. Cant just put in words, but I felt like the happiest man in the world.. :)

I saw Sam waving his hand.. and I greeted him back.. sat for a while in CCD, then wanderd along JM road, went to Shivam.. all the time we spoke about the old days.. and future plans to go to USA and have fun with the gang there... we tried to call Vikya and Amya.. but somehow the call did not went through..
I came back home with a stumoch full with usaL-Bhakari and heart full with joy :D..
was just going to sleep and my Mobile rang.. It was Amit Ghate...
My Friendship Day celebration is on.. for forever...

Salam Bombay

On that fateful tuesday,
My sister started for home in Dadar from her office in Andheri in the afternoon..
In Pune, I got a call from her at around 4 PM saying that she was on the bus and it was stuck in traffic for long time, but nothing to worry..

I just thought she was doing some timepass, as she got nothing else to do in the traffic jam..
But then reports of heavy rain in Mumbai started pouring, and I came to know how dangerous situation was...
Then I was continueously trying to call her but it was all in vein..

I got a call from my brother late night saying that she managed to get in a restaurent and was safe there..
Finally on wed she called me that she reached at my Uncle's place in Matunga at around 10 AM..
And then she told me how fearful that whole time was..
When the Bus did not move for long time, she got off it and decided to walk till traffic jam was over or till all the way to Dadar with some other ppl on the bus..
But before long she came to know it was impossible as the water on the road was neck dip... a women with her got into some pit and held my sister for support..
It could have been the last moment for both of them.. But.. suddenly some ppl from a nearby restaurent saw them and pulled them out.. they made they stay there itself whole night and then let them go in the morning only..
My sister walked till Matunga as there was no other go..But finally at home!!

I cannot express in words how i felt to hear from her..
I am really thankful to all those who helped my dearest sister..
And I think Mumbaikars are the one of the bravest and strongest in the world.. with all the odds in favor, with themselves knocked out with the rain, they did their best to save who all they could..
And there will be many to share the same feelings with me.. That day my cousines/uncles/friends in Mumbai too got similar nice experinces..
This I think makes Mumabi, Mumbai.. It's the Spirit of Mumbai.. the MegaCity. Went very smoothly and was well appreciated by customer as well... But I am already busy thinking ways to keep myself on bench after this project, till I get some onsite assignment...
I wonder that I came so far in my life, still I find myself in similar situations regularly....
A year back... I had got new job with over 100% rise still I was busy thinking ways to get into a project. A year before that... I was trying hard not to get into a project which could avoid my transfer. A year before that.... I wish I get a project else I would be transfered....
Almost all my april/may/june of professional life were very cool that I get bored reading fwds/surfing... And all jul/aug/sept/oct busy like hell... working almost 16 hours a day without brak for lunch...
Almost every 6 months, I am in search of home....
Almost every 4 months I start liking a new girl..... and everytime I don't tell that to her ;)
Almost every month end my bankbalance is limit->0...
So I wonder if I am going any further or just going round 'n round?

May be I am moving in the third dimension while making these rounds... consider me making circles in x-y plane and going upward (or downward) along z axis. hmmmm.... this sounds ok... though the similar things are happening.. their magnitudes/intensity are changing.. still basically they are the same.
In Jan 2003 I was searching for a new Apt..had to cook on my own, do washing of clothes, hurrying up in morning to catch the city bus... that was all in Chennai.. In Jan 2004 I was doing the same in Thane, in Jan 2005 in Stokholm!
more interestingly.. as the form of problems remain the same and magnitude goes up, you too get more powers to fight them off... with every win, you go little up to face more difficult problems, more empowered, more confident :)...
So never think that once you reach somewhere, all your worries will be over.. they go just to come back... So be ready to take them on to win over them.... It no doubt needs a lot of power but that you have already gained, what you need apart from it, is the zeal, passion, attitude!
And while all this is happening never miss to live the beautiful moments.. with each level, even their magnitudes have gone up... :)

Bollywood and Software Industry

Hindi fillam industry- Bollywood is actually a boon for software industry and a strong relationship exists between these two entities...
NO! I am not talking about the business opportunities software industry can get by providing technology for special effects ... it is the Software Industry who is getting benefitted due to bollywood... and the dominance of Indian Software professional is just because they watch hindi movies...

A common man can not get it correctly. Let me address to his doubts here.

Doubt No. 1
Softwares are built with Logic and Hindi movies do not have a bit of it.
---- I do agree that Hindi movies have no logic, but who says softwares have it? In fact there are very less number of softwares are with logic (may be even they could do without it...) they are: keyboard softwares and... (actually they are so less it is hard to name them. anyway).. On the other hand one can find hell lot of softwares without logic.. for instance take this error message - "No Keyboard found, Press any key to continue..".
Actually most of the software programs are written as software services to meet the SPECIAL needs of CUSTOMER. I think this statement is sufficient to prove that most of the software do not have logic.. The customer says - I want this to be displayed like this and the Bollywood savy software professional says, I will do it. This results into lot of illogical softwares, but as well as lot of customer satisfaction, new business for the company, promotions, hike, onsite opprtunities, 'Team Milestone Awards for Personal Achievments' for the software professional :)..
Imagine what havoc would have happened if the same requirement had gone to a logically thinking developer? The company would have doomed.

Doubt No. 2
All hindi movies are just nothing but the same story- a predictable sequence of illogical events, but the software is a every day new technology..
---- For LOGIC part of this doubt, please refer to above discussion.

SAME STORY.
Even software is not much changed from it's begining.. Take example of the most popular operating system Bindows.. The newer version of the OS is not at all different for the older one, except for some new icons, colors and music.. What more? Alomst all the OS vendors sell the same stuff to write mails, play games and watch videos.. And what is so special abt technology? Is the result of 5 * 3 different when calculated with COBOL and c# separately? I do agree that with c# one can see 5 in green * in blue 3 in red and the result in yellow, but as they were able to show Mugal-e-Azam in colors, some day even COBOL can have colors.

PRDICTABLE SEQUENCE.
The day you buy bindows you can predict that it will hang just b4 you are about to save your important work, will crash the very afternoon you install and configure all the softwares successfully, will take 40 minutes to boot up when you need it urgently for 1 minutes work... Ofcourse you don't buy bindows just try to get a pirated copy (This is something same as you don't buy tickets for most of the movies just try to get a pirated CD)..

I think with these detailed analysis, every1 can believe the theory. Still I want to bring a couple of more facts to the worthy readers' attention..

In most of the Hindi Movies, the Hero is a very poor guy, still he wears very expensive clothes, goes to posh restaurents... Majority of the software professionals do get paid very less, still they have AC offices, stylish chairs to sit.. in some companies it is compulsary to wear ties on certain days... while other companies say shoes is a must... Most of them have very cozy cafetaria, dining hall, lush green campus. Still they are so poor, one just need to look at the bank balance... Some corporates bank were forced to offer salary accounts with ZERO balance options..

In most of the hindi movies, all the Heroin does is looking pretty, singing, dancing, wearing latest fashion clothes, adds to the hero's difficulties exactly at the critical times in climax...
Here in software, the lady software pro tries to look pretty... sing songs in picnics, dances on annual day, fashin parades on Fridays... and just b4 a day ahead of crusial delivery will say -- my code is not working, can you pleeese look into it?

With these kinds of things happening in day to day life ... i think software professionals can become more and more competent only by watching more and more hindi movies. Instead of looking for education policies and all that stuff, govt. should remove censor boards, so that the viewership of hindi movies will go up thereby producing more number of qualified software professionals.

Thanks for taking time to read this important blog.

Graph of the life...

the Graph of life is never liner...
you study 2 hours a day you score 50%.. but studying 4 hours a day will take you to 80% and 8 hours a day to 95%... things tend to be saturate.... so you get an exponetial curve here.... I will not give you the equation of it... just because as an ordinary guy i don't like maths... and if I put some maths here I will not feel like going thru this blob again ;)

ok.. so you know what i mean by life has an exponential curve.. but does that mean after certain limit we should not put efforts? My answer is - NO. But if we look @ it in another angle.. we don't need to put efforts beyond certain limit... how? Just change the axis ... and you will find the answer... consider an exponential curve where you stop putting efforts but the output will continue to increase... this will never be true if we take example of exam and marks... but it's the law of enertia... you need to put hell lot of efforts to put the things in speed... and then just need to work against the friction...
As said by Wa. Pu. (in marathi)- MaNasachya ayushyatli sari dhaDpaD, sara sangharsha eka wishisht unchiparyant pohache paryant asato.. ekada ka to tithe pohachala ki tyache saare prashan ti unchich sodawate...
so see that your life will have that kind of exponential curve... get yourself to a height.. and then let the height get things for you.
Strange enough !!! Robert Kiyoski too hints on something similar in his book, Rich Dad Poor Dad...
He says you should Buy Assets.. which will earn money for you and not buy liablities which will make you pay for them..
So that is the way you should invest your money, time and efforts.. and the target should be to make the graph of life exponential.. more returns with less inputs...
